Tessa Mansfield

Chief Creative Officer

With over 20 years’ experience in translating trends into design innovation, brand and product strategy, Tessa leads the global content team, guiding Stylus’ content and creative direction. Before Stylus, she consulted for creative agencies including Forpeople, 20.20, Plan and Foster + Partners on luxury and mass-market brands across a variety of industries including beauty, food, retail, architecture, transport, technology and packaging. Tessa previously held the role of senior strategist and head of trends at Seymourpowell in London, working throughout Europe, the US and across Asia with clients including Unilever, Samsung, Nokia, Ford and Jaguar. Later, as consultant to GDR Creative Intelligence, she delivered trend presentations to firms such as Apple, Sony, L’Oréal and Starwood Hotels.


Dr Antonia Ward

Global Director of Advisory Services

With over 15 years’ experience in trend consulting, research, design, brand strategy and journalism, Antonia directs Stylus Advisory, applying insight and expertise to clients’ challenges. Clients like Mattel, Volkswagen and Ferrero. Former editor of design magazines FX and New Design, and managing editor at the Design Council, Antonia has given keynotes at conferences, run seminars and workshops and chaired judging panels internationally. Antonia has an MA from the University of Liverpool and a PhD from the University of York.


Emily Gordon-Smith

Director of Consumer Product

With more than 20 years’ experience in design management, trend forecasting and client advisory, Emily has worked with global brands like Topshop, H&M, Zara, Marks & Spencer and Walt Disney. Having worked on everything from product development to brand strategy, she’s also contributed to various published titles on the history of art, design and popular culture, and worked for fashion publications such as Harpers & Queen and British Vogue.


Katie Baron

Head of Retail

Katie has spent almost two decades navigating design, production and brand strategy for businesses including Habitat and Liberty, Yellowdoor (now the Portas agency) and Harper’s Bazaar. She chairs panels on SHOWstudio.com, was a founding member of LCF’s Digital Anthropology Lab think-tank, and has been an expert contributor to career accelerator Mastered’s Styling and Retail Management programmes. She is currently a mentor to British Fashion Council designers and a ‘Critical Friend’ for tech start-ups within London’s Fashion District Innovation Hub. Katie is also a Forbes contributor and the author of two books on visual culture – Stylists: New Fashion Visionaries, and Fashion + Music: Fashion Creatives Shaping Pop Culture.


Marian Berelowitz

US Senior Editor

Marian is our New York-based US senior editor. Previously she oversaw content for J. Walter Thompson’s trendspotting unit, exploring global category, consumer, and technology trends. She has also worked as managing editor for Adweek, copy chief for Rolling Stone, and copy editor at InStyle. As a freelance writer, editor and researcher, she has also worked with companies including L2 Inc., Business Insider Intelligence, and Faith Popcorn’s Brain Reserve.


Lauren Chiu

Senior Editor – Colour & Materials

Lauren is an expert in trend forecasting and analysis, with 10 years’ experience. She manages the Colour & Materials team and guides our directional seasonal colour palettes and material forecasts. Lauren regularly reports on cutting-edge colour and material trends and innovations across a breadth of industries spanning fashion, interiors, industrial design, retail and packaging – and travels extensively to trade shows and events across the globe for primary research. Having worked for Stylus since 2011, Lauren has developed strong research, storytelling and concept-building skills, with her passions lying in craftsmanship, tactility and considered use of colour.


Saisangeeth Daswani

Head of Advisory – Fashion, Beauty & APAC

Saisangeeth has experience translating future trends and applying them as solutions for marketing, retail, product and design strategies. She has worked across fashion, luxury and branding. With experience in the US, Asia and Australia, Saisangeeth was previously a trend director at Stylesight and WGSN, where she worked with leading international brands to inspire and inform their creative endeavours through seasonal and trend forecasts. Current and recent clients include Chanel, Disney, Gap and Unilever. Born in Hong Kong, she speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and French.


Sue Evans

Catwalks Consultant

A renowned speaker and presenter, Sue – who has 40 years’ fashion experience – is recognised as a leading expert in translating catwalk trends for the commercial market. She has enjoyed a long career as a designer and trend forecaster.


Sioban Imms

Colour & Materials Consultant

Sioban’s experience spans design, manufacturing and trends for clients including Nike, Swarovski and Lufthansa. Previously, she was WGSN’s senior editor for Materials & Creative Direction. Sioban now guides the seasonal colour and materials direction and contributes daily trends and innovation articles. This work is supported by primary research from global design events and tradeshows. She also teaches a materials innovation course at Chelsea College of Art, London.


Kate Johnson

Senior Editor, Consumer Lifestyle

Kate maps trends in lifestyle and behaviours and tracks changes across the tech landscape. She presents her trends and strategic findings on event stages around the world. Having appeared at IFA Berlin, Unbound London, Decoded Future and Top Drawer, Kate can also regularly be found at international trade shows like CES in Las Vegas and SXSW in Austin, where she hones her insights. Since joining Stylus, she’s worked on specific client briefs for Adidas, Apple, BBC Studios, M&C Saatchi, Puig, Red Bull and Wasserman. Previously, Kate worked in the legal industry, developing new business in the energy sector and managing relationships with investment banking clients, including Barclays and RBS.


Tamsin Phillips

Head of Content Management

With over 15 years’ experience in forecasting and e-commerce, Tamsin takes a holistic view across Stylus content – contributing particular retail and packaging expertise. Having spent four years in fashion and lifestyle e-commerce at Arcadia and Notonthehighstreet, Tamsin has developed a strong commercial focus. Prior to this, she worked for six years at publisher Emap and forecaster WGSN, where she analysed current and close-to-season trends. She has also consulted on trends for e-commerce retailer Stylistpick, and produced features for Craft & Design magazine.


Lisa Payne

Senior Editor – Beauty

As Stylus’ senior Beauty editor, Lisa – who brings more than nine years’ trend forecasting experience – tracks the latest innovations in beauty product development from around the world. She provides analysis on emerging shifts in the industry, key consumer groups and future-focused directives. Lisa travels internationally presenting trends, as well as moderating and sharing insights on industry and consumer-facing panels and roundtables. She graduated with first-class honours in Fashion Journalism from the London College of Fashion.


Dewi Pinatih

Senior Editor – Product Design

With over 15 years’ industry experience, Dewi defines the influence of consumer behaviour, material innovation and technological development on the future of design. This specialism culminates in Stylus’ seasonal Design Directions, which inspire cross-industry product development and concept creation. Focusing on sustainability and empowering design, Dewi also guides the annual Packaging Futures Spotlight Trend, and regularly speaks about the latest challenges and solutions in packaging design at international events. Prior to Stylus, Dewi held positions at leading cultural institutions in the Netherlands, where she co-organised design exhibitions on themes such as hacking Ikea furniture and repair – as well as the first Repair Café event, of which there are now 1,966 worldwide.


Mandy Saven

Head of Food, Beverage & Hospitality

With over 15 years’ experience in trends, consulting and journalism, Mandy is an expert at distilling food culture and consumption, flavour and ingredient innovation, and the future of food. She also holds a strong commercial understanding of the travel and hospitality spaces, as well as the drivers propelling them forward. Prior to joining Stylus, Mandy was executive editor at GDR Creative Intelligence, where she worked with clients such as Waitrose, Kraft, LVMH and Starwood Hotels. She has curated trend reports for Contagious, been a thought leader at Canvas8, and is a prolific public speaker. Mandy has delivered keynote presentations at global conferences, participated in panel discussions, and hosted roundtable sessions with brands like McDonald’s, Hilton Hotels, IHG, Tesco and Fortnum & Mason. Originally from Cape Town, she is widely travelled and a keen CrossFit adherent.


Christian Ward

Head of Media & Marketing

Christian is head of Media & Marketing, which means he oversees Stylus research, reporting and presentations on trends in marketing, advertising, culture and media. Christian spent many years as a music journalist for the NME, before transitioning into PR, where he promoted a host of European start-ups including SoundCloud and Last.fm. Before joining Stylus, he worked as a digital communications strategist at the BBC, publicising iPlayer innovation and the BBC’s digital coverage of the 2012 Olympics.


Olivia Cody

Advisory Researcher

Olivia is experienced in developing trend insights for leading companies. With a background in design and art, Olivia is an expert in design thinking and understanding consumer attitudes. She also specialises in creative problem solving.


Disha Daswaney

Beauty Researcher

Disha has a keen interest in youth culture, technology and micro-influencer groups, channelling her deep understanding of consumer behaviours into charting beauty trends. Part of her skill set is translating these trends’ relevance to complementary industries. Regularly invited to talk at conferences and universities around the UK, Disha also writes about global luxury lifestyle trends in Asia and Europe for London’s Evening Standard, Prestige Hong Kong and BASE.


Katie Devlin

Fashion Researcher

Katie, who tracks the latest trends and developments across fashion, joined Stylus in 2019. Previously, she worked on the fashion teams at Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.com in New York. She has also contributed extensively to retail trends site PSFK. Aside from her industry experience, Katie holds a BA in English Literature from University College Dublin, and an MA in Fashion Journalism from Central Saint Martins.


Julia Errens

Editor – Media & Marketing

German national Julia is a trilinguist who writes extensively on digital information structures, the aesthetics and imperatives of pop culture, and inclusivity in narrative and visual culture. With an MA in Design Writing Criticism and past lives in book design and design thinking consultancy, she can often be found talking about feminism, online communities and meme mechanics on stages, panels and podcasts.


Chloe Frost

Assistant Editor – Colour & Materials

Textile expert Chloe has a particular interest in the role colour and materials play in commercial interiors and retail spaces, in terms of creating memorable brand experiences. With a passion for concept development and formulating visual narratives, she plays an integral role in creating Stylus’ directional seasonal colour palettes and material forecasts. Prior to joining us in 2017, Chloe – who has an MA in Woven Textiles from the Royal College of Art – was an assistant textile designer at Burberry. She also has experience in interior fabrics, fashion fabrics and menswear.


Rachel Lee

Advisory Researcher

Rachel has developed strategy for fitness, fashion and theatre, and lifestyle brands. With a BA in theatre, Rachel also holds a first-class MA in design management. Her postgraduate degree involved specialised research on influencer marketing.


Ella McDougall

Assistant Editor – Product Design

Ella helps research, configure and write Stylus’ all-important Design Directions, which give brands the necessary know-how to create products two years in advance. She also reports on international events spanning home interiors, furniture, tech and product innovations. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Ella has worked with architecture and interiors magazines Belle, Habitus Living and The Local Project, and has also been a contributing producer for radio programme Blueprint for Living with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). She studied journalism at the University of Technology, Sydney.


Emilia Morano-Williams

US Assistant Editor

Emilia covers cross-industry trends, store openings and events across the US. With a background in food and travel, she’s worked as a content writer for travel start-up Journey. Emilia also helped co-ordinate the food newsletter Word of Mouth, which reached 400,000 readers. While studying for her two degrees – an MA in European Culture from University College London and a BA in Italian from University of Bristol – Emilia researched contemporary Italian food advertising.


Nia Pejsak

Advisory Strategist

With experience in fashion marketing management in the UK and APAC, Nia’s work has covered sectors from fast-fashion to luxury at Mulberry, Arcadia and Lacoste. Fascinated by trends and changes in consumer attitudes, she holds an MSc in Applied Psychology in Fashion, bringing a deep understanding of consumer drivers to Stylus projects. Nia also draws on her global experience and up-to-date knowledge of industry best-practice to lecture at the London College of Fashion.


Emily Seger

Trends Analyst

New York-based trend analyst Emily brings a wealth of fashion, technology, beauty and retail experience to Stylus. Her career has so far focused on youth culture and brand development. She’s explored both at trend forecasting companies Stylesight, WGSN, Mintmoda, and licensed product design company Freeze CMI, where she worked on brand strategies and product launches for the likes of Coca-Cola, Disney, Apple, Walmart, Amazon and Target. Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising – with a focus on trend forecasting and journalism – from the San Francisco Academy of Art.


Ima Shah

Advisory Strategist

With extensive experience in product design, forecasting and research, Ima has worked with brands across multiple sectors creating products and commercial trend insights.


Laura Swain

Assistant Editor – Food, Beverage & Hospitality

Before bringing her passion for food, drink and hospitality to Stylus, Laura tested her chops working with brands agency-side on PR projects – brands like Mondelez and Unilever. She also collaborated with wine, spirits and foodservice brands to bring their products to life in the press. A trained journalist and life-long foodie, she tracks the latest trends and developments in product innovation, technology and consumer culture in the food, beverage and travel sectors.


Elspeth Taylor

Consumer Attitudes & Technology Assistant Editor

Fascinated by the evolution of societies and culture, Elspeth charts the attitudinal shifts, emerging products and innovative services that impact consumers’ lifestyles. She regularly presents her insights at industry events like the Welltodo Summit, and also guest lectures to BA and MA journalism students at City University. Before joining Stylus, Elspeth – who has an MA in Fashion Critical Studies from Central Saint Martins – wrote for i-D, The Times, The Sunday Times Style and 1 Granary.
